professional painters’ advice needed! How do you photograph your paintings to build your online portfolio?

i have a basic digital camera, and can’t seem to get good quality photos of my paintings to post online (glare is an issue usually). i am starting to sell my art, what do the pros use to photo their paintings to make them look so good?

First off, you need to think of this as an investment, if you don’t already.

Most painters I know, including myself, will take their painting to a studio and have them photographed with a higher end camera than what you probably have. I have a background in photography so I do it myself, without any problems.

You could also find a giclee printer in the area, who will do a high res scan of your painting, creating such a good scan that the file will be around 2GB. This is unnecessary unless you’re trying to make prints.
